How ZillyPlanet works
ZillyPlanet helps students build math confidence through a structured learning journey that moves from concept introduction to strategy exploration, personalized practice, and mastery.
Students start by choosing a subject. Math is available now, with science, technology, and engineering planned for future learning experiences. Within math, students choose a world such as Geometry, Fractions, Multiplication, Division, or another grade-level concept area.

Students begin by selecting the subject they want to work on.
Right now, ZillyPlanet starts with math for grades 2-8. Once students enter math, they choose a world connected to a math area such as Geometry, Fractions, Place Value, Multiplication, Division, Ratios, Statistics, or Equations.
Each world gives students a focused place to build skills tied to grade-level standards.
Meet the characters and understand the mission.
Before students start practicing, the characters introduce the world, the challenge, and why the concept matters.
This gives students context before they begin, so the learning feels connected to a story instead of starting with a worksheet.

Each concept begins with a short mission briefing video.
The video gives students a 2-4 minute overview of the concept, helping them understand what they are about to learn and how it will show up in the mission.
This gives students a clear starting point before they move into strategy exploration.
Explore strategies in the Lab.
After the briefing, students enter the Lab.
The Lab lets students explore different strategies and approaches tied to the standard they are learning. ZillyPlanet currently uses Common Core standards and is being mapped to state-level standards.
Students use visuals, step-by-step guidance, and worked examples to understand how these types of problems can be solved.
APPLY
Start personalized mastery missions.
After exploring the concept, students move into personalized missions based on their interests with character introductions.
A student who likes sports might solve a performance or team strategy problem. A student who likes animals might solve a care or habitat challenge. A student who likes cooking might solve a recipe or measurement problem.
These missions are scaffolded to build mastery, critical thinking, and problem solving over time.
Get hints, retries, and explanations.
When students get stuck, ZillyPlanet gives support without simply handing over the answer.
Students can use hints, retry questions, and receive explanations that help them understand where they went off track.
The goal is to keep students moving, reduce frustration, and help them build confidence through guided practice.
Build mastery through scaffolded practice.
Students continue through missions until they show mastery of the concept.
The missions gradually build from guided practice to deeper problem solving. Students are not only practicing math facts. They are learning how to apply strategies, compare choices, and think through real-world problems.
Explain the thinking when prompted.
Some question types ask students to explain their thinking, especially within multiple-choice learning moments.
These prompts help students pause, reflect, and communicate their strategy before moving forward.
AFTER MASTERY
Choose practice or challenge missions.
Students who want more practice can keep working with support.
Students who are ready for more can enter challenge missions that ask them to stretch their thinking and apply the concept in a harder scenario.
This keeps learning flexible for students who need more time and students who want an extra challenge.
REWARDS
Earn coins tied to parent-approved rewards.
Students earn coins as they complete learning activities and build progress.
Parents choose the motivation system. Default rewards are zero-cost options families can use at home, such as extra game time, skipping a chore, or extra bedtime.

REPORTING
Parents get standard-level visibility.
Parents can see details for each standard their child is working on, including progress, strengths, and areas where the child may need support.
ZillyPlanet gives parents guidance for off-screen activities they can do at home without needing to learn every strategy taught in the product.
This helps families support learning in simple, practical ways.
